My wife and I visited Fonte Avellana in 2024. The monks were very hospitable, and we stayed in the Peter Damian room of the guest house. The images of the monastery are from that visit, as are those from the Cathedral in Faenza where Peter Damian is buried. The setting is truly beautiful and clearly is visited often in fine weather. There is a shop and cafe opening during the summer months. We were hosted by the monks with excellent food and wine in their refectory, although my Italian is so rudimentary that conversation was limited to nonexistent.
